Update: Mommy, Austin & Camden

Just a very quick update to let you all know how things are with me and my boys.  Before I do that, though, thank you all so much for your concern, thoughts and prayers since my most recent update last week- it has meant the world to me.

My C section ended up needing to be under general anesthesia as I could not have an epidural due to my low platelets.  I had gone in to see my doctor on Tuesday the 3rd and it was then that we discovered I had severe pre eclampsia- my blood pressure was extremely high and I had  4+ protein in my urine.  For the next 24 hrs before the C section, I was told that I had to be on bedrest and was given the evil drug via IV, Magnesium Sulfate (to lower the chance of seizures), which was more than horrible (as so many of you know)!  It was then when I realized I had only one option: A C section underal general anesthesia.  There was no confirmation of any sort as to how long or short induction would take and given I would have had to have been on the Mag for the entire time pre-delivery, I knew there was no way... No other option... These boys would come into the world, really, with neither me nor their father being present.  Ouch.  That is still hard to process.  Additionally, I knew that I would have to be on the Mag again for 24 hrs after the C section, which would result in me not being able to see my babies for a full day/24 hours post delivery- regardless of what decision I made.

After the delivery, I had severe hemorrhaging and lost a lot of blood, which lead to me needing to have blood transfusions. Then I developed an ileus – when your intestines are paralyzed -  and could not eat anything, but only drink clear liquids. Thankfully, that has slowly gotten a little better.  I am now on 2 different Blood Pressure medications and am hoping that those are what I needed to kick start my recovery into high gear.  I am looking at a possible discharge date of as soon as tomorrow.  The boys may be staying put, however, for a few more weeks.

I never knew such love existed until I met Austin George and Camden Frank.  I never realized how there had always been two huge puzzle pieces missing from my heart that have now been so perfectly filled-in by these two little miracle boys.

Congratulations! It looks like they're breathing room air and not hooked up to anything which is awesome for preemies. So glad they caught your pre-eclampsia in time. I also had HELLP syndrome with my 2nd pregnancy -- scary stuff.

Enjoy your sweet boys!

Aubrey -
I stumbled on your blog over 2 years ago after a short bout of infertility. As a fellow Bostonian + previous infertile I Followed and cheered and cried with many of your posts. So I can't express enough how thrilled I am with the arrival of your hard won little boys. I am sorry you've had a difficult end to this pregnancy but I do hope there were some good moments in there. Your boys are just beautiful and perfect and very very much here!! I wish you all the quickest of recoveries. Congratulations.

Oh my... Look at those two precious guys!!!!! They are so tiny and cute!

What a trooper you are. I'm so sorry you didn't have a more peaceful birth and had to go through all that. Your sons will one day learn how brave their mother is, how incredibly hard she worked to have them (from the years of IVF to the delivery).
Congrats again!!!

Oh my Aubrey, what a wonderful sight to see with you holding your gorgeous little baby boys! Contratulations!!!! It may not have been the birth story you dreamed of, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter because they are here, they are YOURS, and YOU are their Mother! I am so incredibly happy for you. I'm sorry that their entry into the world was so hard on you, but in the end, it's all worth it!

Oh my goodness, what a roller coaster! So glad your sweet little boys are safe and sound, but definitely praying for a speedy recovery for you. Congrats, mama!

Oh so glad to read this!! I was worried!! Do you have Instagram??
So glad they made here safely!!! Boo to mag sulphate, high blood pressure, c-sections. Our stories are similar!! Be sure to email me with any questions and fear not, your blood pressure will go back to normal!!! It takes time and you will feel better when it gets better. I found my blood pressure to be a bigger problem than my c-section recovery.
Look at those sweet baby boys!! How big were they? They are perfect!! Hope all is well!!

I'm heading to Ccrm at the end of the month for my first FET ! Wish me luck!!

So glad everyone's doing OK despite a rocky road through delivery. They are going to be safely home in your arms before you know it. So precious. Congrats Aubrey!

Congratulations! The most important thing is you and the boys are healthy. Seeing that picture of you holding your boys makes me smile. But, my heart dropped a little reading about how it happened. So many similarities to my story, I'm having flashbacks. I'm sorry you had to be under general anesthesia. Not exactly how you imagined your birth story. I had that same 24 hours on the Mag after my delivery and it seemed so cruel to not be able to see them or hold them. I had a really hard time dealing with that but it's gotten better over time. It also took about a month for my blood pressure to get back to normal which I'm pretty sure slowed my recovery (sorry, don't mean to scare you with doom and gloom) If you ever want to talk about it, feel free to email me.

OMG, wow girl! You definitely get the award for having been through the most with this entire journey. However, i am so so happy that yours has a perfect and happy ending. I could not be happier for you. The boys are beautiful and worth every single step you've endured to get them here. Sending lots of love to your new family and prayers for a quick and speedy recovery! xoxo!

Congratulations Mommy! I'm so very happy the boys are here and are doing ok, and that you seem to be recovering, too. I'm sorry you didn't have the birth experience you wanted (or anyone would want, especially after such a long journey), but the most important part is that they are here with you now. Congratulations again!!

I'm soo happy that you finally met your miracle babies; after all these years they are here!!! And also so sorry about what you had to go through before, during and after delivery. Many sleepless but great nights are waiting for you as soon as the babies get home so try to get and store some sleep ;). Congratulations to both of you! Love from Istanbul, Turkey (just because of your blog I've transferred my IVF treatment to CCRM and now a patient of theirs; hope I will get as lucky as you ;), thank you so much for this blog! )

Congratulations! I am happy to see this! They look perfect. Take it easy and my advice to you is to get as much sleep and rest as possible during this time. The boys will be well taken care and you need your rest! I should have listened to my own advice 8 weeks ago when my boys were born! Can't wait to see more photos.

OMGosh! I have been slacking on blogging lately and totally missed all of this! What a scary thing to go through, but now you have your baby boys! Congrats! I'm so happy for you! I hope they are home soon with you two!

I had a friend who had preeclampsia and her baby was a little over 1 pound when she was born. The baby was in the hospital for I believe a couple months. It was tough on the parents especially since the hospital is in Chicago and we live about an hour south of there. Chicago traffic makes the commute longer of course.

I hope the weeks without them at home goes by quickly! I bet you can't wait to get them into their adorable nursery!!! :)

You are amazing! Your boys are precious and adorable and so, so loved! I hope you are resting and recovering, but also taking lots of pictures. I am so inspired by you and so proud of you for going through ALL of that to bring your miracle babies into the world. Love and hugs to your adorable family of 4!

Oh my goodness, Aubrey! So absolutely happy for you. Seeing you with those two sweet babies brought back memories of when my babies were that little - just 11 weeks ago! Crazy to think of that since they've already doubled in size. (-: I only mention that so that you can know how lightning fast they are going to turn into little men. (-: Sending love to all four of you.
